Wandering along Kanchenjunga Day 3 Part 4
The next stop was something that I looked forward to very much... It was my time with God's prettiest of creations... The Flora... The Orchids in particular.
Owing to its gradation in altitude, the state has a wide variety of plants, from tropical species to temperate, alpine and tundra ones, and is perhaps one of the few regions to exhibit such a diversity within such a small area. One may see very many places with better display but they are not native to that place… I was told that nearly 81 per cent of the area of Sikkim comes under the administration of its forest department. And that definitely was obvious from the lush growth of the forests there…
Sikkim is a dream of naturalists...
This orchid to the left is known by the name...
...Noble...
the State flower of Sikkim..
It was a flower show... It is termed so, but looked more like a permanent exhibit ...
