Wandering along Kanchenjunga Day 6 Part 1

Day 6 Part 1

Kalimpong is a hill station in the state of West Bengal.  It sits atop of a ridge at  1,247 metres (4,091 ft) that overlooks River Teesta... This place is  known for its educational institutions, many of which date back to the British colonial period.

We started our sight seeing with Durpin Hill... On top of this Hill is the monastery Zang Dhol Palri Phodong where special prayer bells are installed in memory of Tenzing Norkay and his wife by two of his daughters...

This monastery belongs to oldest sect of Tibeteans, the Gelug sect also known as The Yellow Hats, to which both the present Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama and the Tibetean monastery at Bylaguppe, Karnataka belongs to...  This monastery by itself  was interesting and what I found as intriguing as it, was...the scene from the view deck atop. It unfolded a breathtaking panaromic view...  Kalimpong is surrounded by the Himalayan Ranges completely...

Next, it was to Deolo Hill.... Deolo Hill is one of the two hills that the town of Kalimpong stands between. Kalimpong is situated on a ridge connecting the two hills, Durpin and Deolo...

It houses a beautiful park of Gorkhaland... Here you can view the mountains of Sikkim along with the Kanchenjunga Range...
